Monthly club meetings are be held at Brother John's BBQ at 1801 N Stone Ave (the old Wildcat House location).   Happy hour prices will extend to 7:00 PM for TSC members so come early for dinner and drinks.  $2 beers for the whole evening!

“My Year on the 82-foot Maxi Racer, Ondine

John Jourdane

John is one of the most experienced offshore sailors in the world today, having sailed over 350,000 miles  In 1980-81 he joined the crew of the 82-foot maxi racer, Ondine, and spent the year racing in Florida, South America, the Great Lakes, and across the Atlantic to Europe and back to Wisconsin.  It will be a fun, interesting and very unusual talk.

In the last 50 years he has sailed over 350,000 miles

59 crossings between the West Coast and Hawaii (30 over and 29 back)

18 Transpac Races, 5 Pacific Cups (S.F. to Hawaii), and 3 Victoria-Maui Races

12 Atlantic crossings

3 circumnavigations including 2 Whitbread Round the World Races

Every major offshore yacht race in the world.

Holds a current USCG 100-ton USCG Master’s License (since 1974)

100 + offshore sail and power deliveries

Speaker for U.S. Sailing Safety at Sea Seminars for last 30 years (current ISAF 2-day certified)

Teacher of “Weather for Sailors” and “Expedition Weather Routing” classes at Orange Coast College Sailing Center in Newport Beach, CA

Author of 3 books, “Icebergs, Port and Starboard,” and “Sailing With Scoundrels and Kings,” and “Modern Weather for Sailors.”
